For the past 20 years Janette has combined her teaching and ceramic skills and knowledge to offer a variety of learning experiences – TAFE teacher for 10 years, ceramic workshops and demonstration days throughout the state, children’s pottery lessons at Wollongong Art Gallery for past 12 years, guest lecturing, home tutoring and casual teaching. Prior to this, Janette taught in primary schools for 13 years. She has a Teaching Degree and a Ceramics Diploma. During the 1990s she also ran her gallery – ‘Art for Arts Sake’ and a ceramic business –the ‘Pottery Place’, that catered for lessons, consignment work and ceramic supplies. When not teaching, Janette is a professional ceramic artist. She has work in collections in Australia, Japan, USA and Canada and articles in many publications including Australian Ceramic Journal, Ceramic Review, Larks 500 Series – both Teapots and Bowls and Australian Ceramics. She has exhibited regularly over the past 20 years in Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle, and Perth. Her work can presently be seen at the Inner City Clayworkers Gallery, Kerrie Lowe Gallery, Rosedale Street Gallery and Artinport Gallery.
